MEET OUR FOUNDER
From Homeless to Providing Homes
At Uplift, our mission is deeply rooted in my personal journey and experiences. Mental health, youth, and homelessness hold a special place in my heart due to the challenges my own family faced. As I was growing up, my father experienced severe mental health issues, and unfortunately, he didn't receive the appropriate level of care and support he needed. This led to him being prescribed medication that worsened his condition, resulting in a downward spiral.
Throughout my formative years, from the age of 10 until I was 19, our lives were marked by a constant struggle. We found ourselves constantly moving between temporary shared accommodations, and at times, we even had to endure the hardships of being completely homeless. The suffering and pain we endured during that time were incredibly difficult and left a lasting impact on me.
Now, it is my life's purpose to make a difference and help as many people as possible avoid going through the same level of pain and hardship. I firmly believe that providing quality housing is a fundamental step towards empowering individuals and giving them the stability and support they need to thrive. By offering safe and secure homes to those in need, we aim to create a positive impact on the lives of individuals facing mental health challenges, youth in vulnerable situations, and those experiencing homelessness.

MEET OUR OPERATIONS DIRECTOR
I'm honored to be a part of Uplift Community Homes as the Operations Director. My personal journey through the struggles and turbulence of mental health has given me a unique perspective and an unwavering commitment to my role in this organisation.
From the ages of 11 to 25, I faced my own battles with mental health, and my teenage years were particularly challenging. I had to take breaks from secondary school and spent time as both an inpatient and outpatient at a psychiatric unit. At 15, I received a diagnosis of Cyclothymia, which later led to a re-diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder in my early twenties.
These experiences provided me with a profound understanding of the complexities of emotions, thoughts, and behaviours, ultimately fostering a platform for profound healing and personal growth.
I am incredibly grateful for the obstacles I've faced, as they have shaped me into the passionate advocate I am today. My personal journey has ignited a deep desire to make a positive impact in the lives of others. I firmly believe that every individual, regardless of their struggles, deserves a sense of security and stability. This belief fuels my dedication to creating a safe haven for young people who are facing similar challenges, including mental health issues, past struggles with substance abuse, or navigating the care system.
Working at Uplift Community Homes allows me to merge my personal experiences with my professional purpose. I consider it a privilege to be part of an organisation that shares my passion for transforming lives and nurturing hope. Together, we are committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.

Bianca Barnard
I am honored to be part of such a caring and inspiring company such as Uplift. Being a mother of two boys, I am passionate about issues like homelessness and challenges that the youth faces on a daily basis and it fills me with so much joy knowing that I can positively contribute to changing the future of our youth and give them a positive outlook to a bright future.
During my childhood, I was exposed to challenges myself as I had an alcoholic father and domestic voilence was part of our everyday lives. Since becoming a mother I pledged to never expose my children to the same trauma and I wholeheartedly wish that we could protect all children from these traumatic experiences.
Through our company mission of providing safe and secure housing, we aim to create a positive impact on those in need as everyone deserves to feel loved and cared for.

Mara Bitancor
Every day, I wake up feeling grateful to be part of Uplift. To be able to contribute to the company's purpose and be given the opportunity to play a role in delivering our mission fills me with a deep sense of fulfillment. Meaningful issues like mental health, youth, and homelessness resonate with me on a personal level.
When I was 18, I moved to a city to pursue a professional licensure examination, hoping to improve my family's living conditions. However, witnessing numerous individuals living on the streets, especially during rainy days, deeply saddens me. It made me fully realised that having a borrowed roof is a blessing, as some don't have one, to begin with.
My family didn't have our own house until I turned 20, and during that time, we were living at my aunt's house. It was a challenging period, compounded by the comments we received from some relatives. Despite the difficulties and challenges, I couldn't help but be grateful for having a safe place where my family could sleep at night. These experiences greatly influenced the person I have become today.
Now, it is my mission to help people have their own safe places. Where they can live and build a dream. At Uplift, we aim to provide quality housing to those individuals facing mental health difficulties, homelessness, and the youth in need. I really believe that having a place to call home is a stepping stone towards creating a brighter and more fulfilling life journey. Our goal is to provide individuals with the key to unlock the door to their own homes, empowering them to experience the security, stability, and comfort they deserve.
